I fly by the seat of my pants when I write. I rarely outline and I have to be careful of research tangents. That rabbit hole is deep!
I can’t speak for all pantsers, but I thought I would give you a sneak peek at what goes on inside my head. It usually starts with an inspiration, prompt, or idea and the images float around in my brains. Sometimes I sleep on it or sometimes I sit down for an hour and just write (Writing on the Fly). I see where the scene or characters take me. I don’t pay too much attention to editing, but I will make changes if an idea hits me or if something doesn’t mesh.
I’ve taken a screen shot of about twenty minutes of a one hour writing frenzy. You can read the rest in its first draft form (yes, I did fix the word “its” in the video!): Failure to Conform
Inquiring minds want to know:
Do you pants it or outline it?
